Tributes pour in for Sir Alex Ferguson after shocking news of brain hemorrhage

This rocked the whole football world.

The news that Sir Alex Ferguson had been rushed to hospital yesterday for emergency surgery after a brain haemorrhage left everyone in shock.

Just a week ago the legendary Man United manager had been handing Arsene Wenger a trophy on the Old Trafford pitch.

Then last night it emerged the 76-year-old was taken to hospital with a life-threatening injury.

Thankfully, it appears Fergie is in recovery in intensive care with the surgeons suggesting the operation was successful.

But in such a sad and emotional time the world of football showed its unity by every corner of the game rallying around the biggest character in the game for the last 20 years.

Sir Alex Ferguson has undergone surgery today for a brain haemorrhage. The procedure has gone very well but he needs a period of intensive care to aid his recovery. His family request privacy in this matter.

His former club United released a statement on Twitter announcing the news before adding a heartfelt message that the club look forward to his speedy recovery.

However, the stature and achievements of Ferguson saw all his biggest rivals unite in support of the Premier League’s greatest ever manager.

Arch rivals Man City and Liverpool both wished him a speedy recovery on Twitter as many of his former players joined in the messages.
